Mazda Trucks

Mazda trucks have been part of the Mazda line up since the company established success in creating their coupe series. The company has seen numerous ups and downs, although since the year 2000 it has increased its developmental capabilities and has released numerous popular models that have turned the tides to a much more successful position. With the coupes doing well, the truck and SUV design team went back to the drawing board. Originally, Mazda trucks were considered to be too small, too light, and ineffective when it comes to practical applications.

While Mazda trucks are still within the compact class, they have gained more power and practicality through design. Very much like a Ranger, the B Series is considered to be an overall value for the money for light duty hauling and towing. Adding in the benefit of responsiveness and handling that is impressive for a pick up truck, the B Series has a faithful following. For a few years Mazda trucks were considered to be an excellent value until the manufacturer stopped focusing on continued development. With much of the design and development going to SUVs and cars, the trucks were left in a time warp and eventually fell out of favor with the consumer.

The B Series offered Mazda truck enthusiasts 3 different motor options, a slew of options and features, and many trim levels to configure the exact right match for the consumers’ needs. There were 2 wheel drive options as well as 4 wheel drive options. While the antilock braking system was standard equipment, other standard safety equipment didn’t come on Mazda trucks. The need for airbags and stability features were not necessarily considered of prime importance to the manufacturers and thus a used model can not be found with this safety equipment.

Mazda trucks also came with any number of options. Bedliners, skid plates, fog lights, alloy wheels, cruise control, keyless entry, power accessories, and CD player were optional on most models. The CD player eventually came with the MP3 input line.

As a package the Mazda trucks certainly could look the part. They had a higher than average suspension and larger than average tires. This look made then seem like tough off road vehicles that could handle anything that the terrain had to dish out. For the most part, Mazda trucks could handle moderate off road conditions. They weren’t capable of standing up to the highest standards of off roading, but for the average weekend adventurer they did just fine.

As a used model consumers are urged to ensure that the maintenance has been well established before making a purchase. There are other used models on the market that can hold up better over the long haul, although Mazda did make sure that with proper care their vehicles would last.

They are still a good value for the average consumer looking for a basic truck with basic towing and hauling capacity and not a great desire to go hitting the off road competitions. The reputation of their cars far exceeds the reputation of their trucks, and consumers should be aware of this before making a purchase.
