The Hummer H2 SUT is a well blended version of a Hummer pick up truck. It still looks like a Hummer and acts like a Hummer. It even guzzles gas like a Hummer. The Hummer H2 SUT is designed exactly like the original right up until you get to the rear doors. Then, the SUT turns into what looks like a pick up truck.
The Hummer H2 SUT has reduced seating due to the small pick up bed. While the other Hummer designs will seat seven people, the SUT will only seat five. The small pick up bed can be extended by folding the rear passenger seats down. There is a handy power window that will allow the cargo to come in through the rear of the cabin for added hauling space. This, of course, reduces the number of passengers once again.
Since the styling of Hummer H2 SUT isn’t really any different from the original with the exception of the truck bed it has been heralded as well as criticized for its inception. The interior is not the warm and user friendly interior that you’ll find in a traditional SUV or pick up and the cargo space is limited. If you add in the poor fuel economy many critics feel that this was an exercise in flawed design. The average consumer tends to be on the fence about it. The rugged off road experience that it can offer is tempting for those who love to make their own path.
The 17 inch alloy wheels and the all terrain tires that come standard give the Hummer H2 SUT the off road preparedness that you would expect from the manufacturer. Underbody skid plates offer protection from the off road elements while the driver controlled locking rear differential gives the pilot all the control he or she needs for the ultimate off road experience.
The interior features of the Hummer H2 SUT include dual zone climate control, rear climate control, leather seating, power front seats, remote ignition, heated seats throughout the vehicle, driver memory for the front seat, Bluetooth, OnStar, a Bose stereo system, and an auxiliary jack to compliment the satellite radio. One of the more appreciated features is the power tilt and telescoping steering wheel. It’s heated.
If you add on the Adventure Package to the Hummer H2 SUT you also find a tool kit, a First Aid kit, a front brush guard, and the convenience and safety of a self leveling rear air suspension. The standard dual range transfer case gets you over all of the terrain that others are afraid to take on. As a rough and tumble vehicle for the true off roader at heart, the SUT fits well. For the suburban commuter it’s a large gas eating machine.
The Hummer H2 SUT can tow 8,000 pounds with the right equipment. The 6.2 liter V8 produces 393 horsepower. It also produces 415 pounds of torque. With stability assist and antilock disc brakes and a head curtain airbag that can sense the vehicle rolling over, safety and power converge to offer one of the more unique vehicles on the road and off the road today.
