Dodge Trucks

Dodge trucks are responsible for many different innovations which are considered to be a standard of today. The Hemi engine, factory installed air conditioning, and military designs were based on the pre 1970s production of Dodge trucks. Originally, these were the vehicles that were responsible for all military transport and ambulance transport around WW1. Once the war was over, the manufacturer headed into the private sector, offering a slew of innovative ideas and designs to put (and keep) it on the map.
After a minor financial bobble in the 1970s the struggling manufacturer came out with 3 new vehicles in order to reclaim their place amongst the American car manufacturers. Of the Dodge trucks, the Ram came out with great fanfare and the consumer found it to be everything they wanted in a reasonably priced pick up truck. The Ram became known as the stylish workhorse of the class. While previous pick ups of all models were square, unattractive, and somewhat prone to tipping, they lacked aerodynamics and style. The Ram changed the look, stability, and aerodynamic progress of the pick up truck.
The addition of the Hemi to Dodge trucks made the attraction even greater. This engine would offer more power and mimicked the projection of the turbo engines found in high performance cars. The Hemi could add significant power, which increased towing capacity, load hauling capacity, and overall appeal for those who like a little extra power under the hood. While the Ram is still the hallmark of Dodge trucks, the initial blast onto the scene gave the manufacturer economic stability combined with the popularity of the Caravan.
The Dakota is also in the Dodge trucks line up, making its mark in the compact pick up series. The Dakota is not as popular as the Ram but has been built with the same attention to detail, the Hemi option, and additional comfort features to rival some of the higher level competitors. Released in the 1980s, this is one of the Dodge trucks that is considered to be a classic that has been thoughtfully redesigned on numerous occasions.
The Dakota was the first to initiate the mid size pick up class. Before the Dakota consumers only had full size and compact options. Creating its own class was a feat of its own. Doing so with a quality vehicle that offered dependable performance was a turning point for many skeptics. To provide the extra quality that consumers were looking for, the Dakota was smoother on the road and more responsive than almost any other pick up truck on the market.
The option of a Ram hybrid has also helped to place the car company in the limelight, as more consumers are looking for less dependence on fuel and are looking for a replacement for their higher gas mileage vehicles. Hybrid technology adds quite a bit to the overall price of the truck, but the fuel savings may very well be worth the additional funds for the purchase price. Dodge trucks are offered to the consumer as a model that brings value and overall competitive performance and pricing to the everyday person.
